Library Cards

Your Key to the Library

Your library card opens a world of possibilities, from access to print materials and in-library services, to digital tools to take your patronage to the next level. Need a card? You can register online or in person by visiting either branch or our bookmobile. We offer multiple library card designs, so you can pick the one that best reflects your interests.

Types of Library Cards

Adults

18 & Over

Library cards are issued free of charge to county residents 18 and over upon presentation of photo ID with permanent address. You may apply at any library branch.

NOTE: If your photo ID does not include proof of permanent address within the county, please bring a separate proof of address. Examples include a utility bill, rent receipt or bank statement in your name.

Minors

Under 18

Minors (under 18) must have a parent or guardian accompany them to sign an application form. Parents will need to present photo ID with proof of address in the county.

NOTE: Parents are responsible for any fees associated with their minor child’s card.

See our Note to Parents for more details on children’s use of the public library.

Teachers

We offer teachers and homeschool parents extended library privileges. In addition to a personal library card, instructors may request a teacher card. This card allows you to:

  • Check out up to 60 items, including books, audio books, and music CDs
  • Check out up to 6 each of CDs and movies
  • Checkout period for books and audiobooks is 6 weeks
  • All movies check out for 3 weeks

Some restrictions may apply for new books and video games. Stop by the Library to get your Teachers card.

Using Your Card

Card Number & PIN

Library online resources and account services require you to enter your library card number (located on the back of your card) and PIN. Your PIN is the password associated with your account. If you do not know your PIN, you may request it here.

NOTE: You must have a valid email address on file to use this method. If you do not have an email on file with the library, please contact us or ask for your PIN at any library branch.

Lost or Stolen Cards

If your card is lost or stolen, please contact us immediately. We will block your account to ensure there is no unauthorized access. Visit any library branch to replace a lost, stolen or damaged card. The replacement fee is $1, and photo ID is required.

Expired Cards

Library card accounts expire periodically to ensure contact information is updated. If you receive the message that your “Privilege has Expired” when using online services, please stop by any library branch to renew your account, or contact us.
